Doing Small And Unimportant Things Well

What have you done lately that would put you into any record books? Most all of us would answer that question with "Nothing". Whether we were just going about our lives or we don't feel that what we do has much significance will cause that answer to be "Nothing".

Whether it is being evangelistic, going to our job, going to school, or just going about our lives, many of the things that we do in life are small things. Small things are hard to see. You don't see all the dust in our houses, cause it is small. You don't see the "fine print", cause it is small. You don't notice the quiet person who doesn't speak to anyone, cause they are not out in front. Small things don't get noticed. Small things can lead to bigger things. That brings us to this week's quote...
No matter how small and unimportant what we are doing may seem, if we do it well, it may soon become the step that will lead us to better things. ~ Channing Pollock

What you have done lately may seem insignificant to you. It may seem insignificant to your life. In fact, they may actually be insignificant, at this point. Just like the snowflake is small, but many insignificant snowflakes together can make a huge impact.

So, if you think of your actions as insignificant, think again. If you think you can't make a difference in someone's life by doing something small, think again. God takes the small, weak, and insignificant things in your life to do something great! Nazareth was insignificant, as Nathanael asked, "What good thing can come out of Nazareth?!" The answer, JESUS!!!

What you are doing today can lead to a better thing that you ever imagined! Just look out...you never know when it will let itself be known.

Looking forward to what my insignificant things will become...

Working With Servants

Over the years God has done some pretty amazing things with His people. Moses - rescuing the Israelites and parting the Red Sea, Gideon - winning battles by being outnumbered, and Mary - giving birth to deity - God's only Son.

I like to look with anticipation at how God is going to use me each day. Even today, I wonder and am eager to see who will be in my path that I can plant a seed in their life. Who's been in your path today/lately? This anticipation makes things exciting. In fact, on a spiritual level, it is the same excitement that I have for Christmas Morning! That is what I hope to rub off on others as time goes on. I didn't have that excitement a long time ago...but I am glad I have it now!

Yesterday, we looked at how God works with servants. We took a look at how God worked with Mary, but she was wondering exactly how this news of her being pregnant was going to happen. However, nothing will be impossible with God. Thus, Mary was blessed to bring in the Savior into the world - for you and me. Here are some applications to choose from to use this week...
  1. Pray that God will keep your eyes open to look at each person that comes across your path as someone you can plant seed in.
  2. See how many areas that you can apply the "nothing will be impossible with God" mindset.
  3. Submit the difficult situations to Him and allow Him to work them out - remember to give Him time.
  4. Share with someone the amazing things that God did with you today, and each day.
  5. Look for ways to expand your territory (I Chronicles 4:10) to increase your influence - joining a civic group, volunteering, inviting a family of a friend of your children for dinner/activity, or you think of one.
I've already had the "surprise" moments since we've moved. It has made things fun and exciting...I wish I could put it into words!

Hope you're ready for Christmas! Have a Merry Holiday Season!

Looking forward to those in my path...

Monday Mentionings: God REALLY Loves Us! - Nehemiah 9:9-31

If you had as good of a day as I did yesterday, then you had a good start to your week!

One thing that preaching through books teaches me, is that people need things (and sometimes the same things) told to them over and over. This section of Nehemiah is a good example. As they pondered their history, they were reminded of how much God really loves them. This chapter reminds us of the same things.

Instead of additional applications, I want you to spend various times in your week by praising God for what He has done for you. These could be simple things, like things we take for granted, to bigger things. The possibilities are endless. It doesn't matter what you deem as appropriate for praise, just do it!

After all, we are a people who have been "afflicted, yet freed", we can be "stiff-necked, yet grace-given", and we often "rebel, yet not forsaken". God does REALLY love us!

Have a praise-filled week!!!!!

Loving Him ~
